Meal Delivery to All children in Wilkes County

On Monday, March 23 and Monday, March 30 the Wilkes County School Nutrition department will distribute breakfast and lunch meals to children in Wilkes County using the regular school bus routes throughout the county. The buses will be on their routes between 2:30 – 4:30 pm. The bus drivers will stop at each bus stop on their usual routes. Please watch for the buses and have your children ready to receive their meals so that we can quickly drop off meals and move to the next stop. Buses will be unable to wait at stops due to number of deliveries that need to be made so it is important that children be ready to receive their meal bags when buses pull up to the stops.

All children, infant to age 18, can receive the meals for the week at no cost. All children must be present to receive the meal bags.

If your child does not normally ride the bus, please watch for the bus drivers between the times listed above and flag down the bus safely from your yard. The meals are for ALL children in Wilkes County not just children that normally ride the bus.

All food will be shelf stable and/or cold food options. The meals that contain temperature sensitive items such as milk, deli meat and juice need to be refrigerated as soon as possible.

If you are normally a car rider and are not sure about the bus route that is closest to your home, meals will be available for pick up at in the bus loading area of Washington Wilkes Middle School between 2:30 – 3:30 pm on Monday, March 23 and Monday, March 30. To encourage social-distancing we ask that you not stay on campus after you pick up your meals. Please do NOT come to the pick-up area if you are ill.
